I just spent a couple of hours at the Matanzas Inlet watching the surf and making notes. Getting the water color and sky color right is difficult as the perspective changes. Far away one is looking at the wave front and the sea takes on mostly the darker water color. Close in the water becomes a more light olive and the reflection of the sky color becomes more predominant.
I’ll try an oil sketch from memory then compare it with the few photos I took to see if it is right. Don Demers is an expert at this–I recommend studying his work.
